SpeedMaster is a Chrome extension that allows users to control video playback speed on any website. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
2. Data Collection
The SpeedMaster extension does NOT collect any personal data.
All extension data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API:
- Your preferred playback speed setting
- Theme preference (light/dark/auto)
- Widget display preference
- Usage statistics (videos accelerated, time saved) - stored locally only
This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server.
3. Premium License Validation
If you purchase a Premium license, the extension communicates with our server (speed-master.vercel.app) solely to validate your license key.
This validation only transmits:
- The license key you entered
No browsing history, personal information, or usage data is ever transmitted.
4. Premium Purchases
When purchasing a Premium license through our website, we collect:
- Email address (to send your license key)
- Payment information (processed securely by Stripe)
Important: We never store your credit card information. All payments are processed securely by Stripe.
5. Permissions Used
The extension requires certain permissions to function:
- storage: Save your preferences locally on your device
- activeTab: Detect videos on the current page when you interact with the extension
- webNavigation: Apply your speed setting when navigating to new pages
- host permission: Validate Premium license keys via speed-master.vercel.app
6. Data Sharing
We do NOT sell, trade, or transfer your data to third parties. We do NOT use your data for advertising or marketing purposes.
7. Data Security
Since all extension data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it. You can clear this data at any time by uninstalling the extension or clearing extension data in Chrome settings.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data (stored locally in Chrome)
- Delete your data (by uninstalling the extension)
- Request deletion of purchase data by contacting us
